Estuarine monitoring using wireless loggers

Data Acquisition Networks has a history of successful involvement with the monitoring of estuarine water quality through maintaining salinity records that are an indicator of water water impurity. Put simply, when it rains and there is run-off from land into the estuary there is a probability the water will become impure. By correlating water salinity with meat quality the aquaculture industry is able to determine at what salinity level an estuary should be closed for aquaculture harvesting.

New wireless transmitters from DAN enable multiple points within an estuary to be monitored from one data logger positioned in a farmer’s shed. This enables readings to take into account tidal flows that may conclude rainfall does not effect every point in an estuary equally.

Data loggers from DAN continue to lead the way in estuarine salinity monitoring.
